The Renaissance

Generation 7: King Louis

So this next period is another one that I added. It's the Renaissance period. Apparently my sims have been living in France and its now the 17th century. The Renaissance is considered the cultural bridge between the middle ages and the modern era, and therefore it was one that didn't feel right leaving out. (I used CC for the clothing, one of the periods in which It felt wrong not to, but its one of my favorite uses of CC as the dresses are gorgeous) Thanks to a resurgence in classical literature and art, society has been thrust into a new era, the kingdom has grown wealthy from maritime trade and after the death of his father, Prince Louis finds himself King during a period of peace and prosperity. Keeping up with the times, he moves himself into a shiny new palace.

The now King Louis is the most popular King in generations and all of the young single women of the Kingdom come to court him. It is then that he meets the love of his life lady Sophia.

The two are smitten, and end up having a shotgun wedding after Sophia becomes pregnant.

Although Henry and Cecelia have married and moved onto other kingdoms, Hilde and Guinevere are still around. Of course, Hilde still plays the violin and piano from time to time.

And its a good thing they are around too, because amazingly Queen Sophia gives birth to quadruplets! Two boys and two girls; Raphael, Francesca, Charlotte, and Leon.

(The babies in order: Raphael, Francesca, Charlotte, and Leon)

Especially since the King is very busy with his Kingly duties.

(Please just pretend that this is a typewriter)

The four kids grow up in the Palace, causing mayhem, but overall as happy as can be. The four siblings grow very close and do everything together. They even dream of sailing across the seas and seeing foreign lands! When we grow up, we will travel the world on a great ship they promise each other.

The four grow into beautiful young adults and are still as close as they were as children.

Hilde and Guinevere pass away after living long beautiful lives.

And King Louis, Queen Sophia, and their children live happily in the castle.

Until that fateful day...

The French Revolution

Now the following photos were recreated recently using an awesome mod that I wanted to try, known as the serial killer mod. Since I no longer have the original cc I used, the family is dressed in different clothing, but the story is solid.

And without further ado I now present... the French Revolution...

Although the early years of King Louis' reign were prosperous, the kingdom soon fell victim to drought and a competitive market... Overtime the standard of living for the common people began to go down and the people began to resent the King and the lavish life of the royal family.

But still, no one in the Kingdom knew what was about to happen.

After the deaths of Hilde and Guinevere, Queen Sophia felt that she needed an extra hand to help with all of the chores. So she hired a young maid named Francis Marie.

As far as maids go, Francis Marie was a great help around the house.

She was also sweet to the girls Francesca and Charlotte helping them with their clothes and hair, even giving advice about boys!

But she was keeping a terrible secret... Her brother Maximilian was part of a group that was secretly plotting to overthrow the monarchy.

He asked his sister to take this job only as a way to gain access to the royal family and plot against them.

And now... He was finally ready to make his move.

The king was in his chambers when he heard a sound from behind him.

Gasp!

Who are you? What do you want?

FOR FRANCE! he shouted as he plunged a knife through his heart! DESTROY THE MONARCHY!

Raphael, having witnessed the murder, ran downstairs to tell his family to flee, but he wasn't quick enough. Maximilian's next target was queen Sophia.

Having witnessed the death of his father and now his mother, Raphael tried to attack the intruder.

But he was no match against Maximilian's strength and was killed in the skirmish.

Having seen his brother killed, Leon tried to run...

But he too was killed....

Now only the girls were left, and Elizabeth had a soft spot for them.So she decided to let them live for a little longer, while she and her brother decide on what to do with them.

First the girls were given time to mourn.

And then Francesca had an idea. She would confront Maximilian and ask that she spare her sister's life and in exchange she would marry him.

(Charlotte was not happy about her sister marrying the man who murdered her entire family, but even Grim was behind the idea)

Francesca begged and pleaded and after much consideration Maximilian accepted the deal. Both girls would live. Marrying Francesca would give his reign legitimacy, and Charlotte could be sent abroad to marry some wealthy landowner overseas in exchange for international legitimacy. (Of course after he was crowned emperor via a democratic vote...)

And so... Francesca brought her sister to the ship to say good bye and wish her a safe Journey. She had no idea what to expect in the future but she knew the journey would be lonely.

(Remember when we were kids and said we would sail the world together? Well now this is your chance! Do it for Raphael and Leon...)

While Charlotte boarded the ship, and set sail to an unknown destiny.

To be continued!
